The waters of Venezuela wind their paths together-- an English soldier, adrift after defeat, and a dark Frenchman, spending the gold of émigré nobility. Both are further from home than anyone might suspect. The greed of two old men will bring them together, and only one will survive the night they meet. Black wings will spread across the sky, and the Makhvet's blood will spill beneath them.
