Notes
The time I spent with B was by far one of the most productive periods in my artistic life. Most of the sketches are not worth looking at, just motion studies which would look like scribbles. But every weekend I made us a nice breakfast and we sat around the table with a couple of kids, all of us working on drawings. I think abstract is one of the most important things you can teach a kid in life. Teaching kids that lines can express things without needing to represent anything is a great way to get them to express feelings they can't get out any other way. If you're out there and you wish you could draw, please, PLEASE send me fanart of abstract designs. Be unafraid of that white space. Play in it. Toss it around with your pencil. Work with it and work with it until something emerges that strikes a chord. That's where art really lives.
